Mental health professionals are launching an expanded initiative targeting youth mental health across Gilgit-Baltistan, addressing psychological impacts of isolation and providing accessible support services.

A new initiative spearheaded by mental health professionals aims to make psychological support accessible to young people across Gilgit-Baltistan. The program addresses a critical gap in mental health services in remote communities.
Program Components
The initiative includes: (1) Mobile counseling units visiting rural areas; (2) Online support groups and telehealth services; (3) School-based mental health awareness workshops; (4) Peer support training programs; (5) Crisis intervention services.
Focus Areas
Special attention will be given to youth dealing with academic stress, social isolation, cyber harassment, and family pressures. The program also addresses mental health stigma through community education.
Expected Reach
Officials project the initiative will reach 5,000 young people in its first year, with plans to expand to 15,000 by 2027.
